Pisum sativum. ~50-80 days.

A rare and very unique and stunning spring type pea orignally from France via the famed Vilmorin. This very productive variety seems to be the ancestor to a rare pea that was brought to Pennsylvania by William Penn called the Old Red Pea. Peas begin green and ripen to a stunning dark purple-red, almost black color. Pods often begin to bear zebra like stripes when ripening, which reminds of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, hence our name of "Cheshiure Pea". Some resistance to fusarium wilt. Climbing type best trellised. Vines usually reach 4-6 feet tall. ~20 seed minimum per packet.
